Even if you‘re the most secured single, there’s a little sneaky feeling of… “When do I get my slice of the pie.” But the reality is that Valentine’s Day can be whatever you want it to be. It can just be another day or a day to celebrate love (in whatever form you want!) There are no rules to this thing. Just like there are no rules to dating. We create teh narrative.
And today, we choose us.
Whether you’re reading this single, in the early stage of dating and not spending the day together (which does not make or break your relationship), or you’re in a relationship and want some time for yourself today, this article is for you. Because if Valentine’s Day means anything, it means ME day.
It’s the simplest and easy way to show love. Showing love to ourselves. Saying that and avoiding any more yapping, here are 10 ways you can spend it for yourself. You can mix and match, choose what works for you, or decide to ignore the suggestions. It’s up to you today. Do you!
Wellness Day! Get your nails done, book your favorite workout class, and get a massage/sauna time!
Sweet Treat Day! Go scavenger hunt around to all your favorite treat places. Grab your fav coffee, ice cream, candy (try Bon Bon if you're in NYC), or your favorite bakery snacks!
Self-Love Night! Take an everything shower, put on a fav face mask, do your facial routines you never have time for, read your book, listen to podcasts, and journal. + all your fav home things.
Movie Theatre Night! Take yourself to the movies (aka getting out of the house!). Pick a movie that YOU want to see... and maybe your friends aren't in the mood to see.
Get outside! If you're somewhere warm, embrace it. Go to the beach or park and just be in the sun. Plan to stay and watch the sunset.
Treat yourself! Go shopping and actually try on clothes/ shoes. Create a space to enjoy pampering yourself. And maybe buy the thing you've been eyeing for a while.
Connect with friends! If two or more of you are single, celebrate your love TODAY. Plan a dinner or movie night in.
Fill your cup! Been putting off booking a flight or planning the trip? Have today be the day you start planning! Give yourself something to look forward to.
Bake dessert or cook yourself a meal! Even if you're bad at it. Today is your day to try something new or make something for yourself.
