Dating coach, author, and dating columnist on a mission to rewrite the dating narrative.
Hi, I’m Stevie!
To empower daters, like you, to build a dating life and relationships that align with YOU. I’m burning the dating rule book and encouraging you to write your own. Connections and relationships grow in diverse ways, and we all deserve to explore and find love in our unique paths.
A British Texan, I grew up between two different worlds. A horse girl confused if she should ride Western or English. From a small town in Texas to a city just north of London, I saw the world from two views. Love wasn’t about proximity, but about the moments I collected on either side of the Atlantic. I grew up with friendship at my core. Though dating crossed my mind, I watched contently from the sidelines as my friends dated and had their first kisses. I was a late bloomer. An embarrassing turned cherished anecdote that allowed me time to find the foundational parts of myself.
In an environment where dating only led to one outcome: engagement, marriage, and kids, I craved something different. I wanted to be a woman who wrote her own story in a city that celebrated my independence.
Now, a ten-year New York City veteran, I continue to write that story (literally, and figuratively) with a found purpose to help those who know they want more. Not just to find a relationship, but to build a life and sense of self that attracts connections, dating experiences, and relationships that help us become our true selves.
In 2014, I moved to New York to pursue a career in fashion. I fell into the bustle of my new life and let myself go to a world of endless nights, finance bros, and abundant culture. It was here I found myself, though I didn’t quite know it yet. My career began as a fashion assistant, consuming all fashion and NYC life advice I could from my fabulous co-workers. I sought any guidance I could get as I took to the New York dating scene with an unknown element in town, dating apps. Almost mindlessly, I began going on Bumble dates, exploring flings with neighbors and friends’ coworkers, and attempting to understand my sexuality with one-night stands.
Dating was a freeing experimentation of the life I wanted to create for myself. Yet, this revelation didn't come to find me until I lost my job in 2020 with nothing else to do but reflect on my life. As I uncovered the world of mental health and self-love, I realized I never stopped to understand what all my dating and NYC experiences meant to me. What was their purpose?
I began writing thank-you letters to my past dates, relationships, and one-night stands during my first six years in the city. From my first Bumble date to the time I lost my virginity, then to the moment I thought I found love, I unexpectedly wrote my dating memoir. A life-altering view of how dating intertwined beautifully with my life and who I was. Somehow, I wanted other daters to feel the dating clarity I had found.
It was the moment I began building my dating narrative.
The City of Dating, A Memoir, was published in 2021, inspiring this very dating wellness platform, The City of Dating. Beginning as a weekly dating advice column, I began sharing my dating tips and experiences. Advice inspired by my own dating life, but also by my friends and NYC strangers who unprompted shared their dating life with me. My determination to enjoy my dating life grew into a passion for helping others discover healthier ways to not only date but mindfully learn and grow from each experience.
We date to find ourselves. Not our soulmates.
Dating is more than finding one soulmate. It is a lifeline to who we are and who we are meant to be. Dating opens us up to a world of new connections, perspectives, cultures, and spirituality. A universal journey to be enjoyed at every stage, or age. So, I’m switching the narrative—to show how dating and relationships grow in many forms from all the connections we make in our lives.
The City of Dating continued to expand as my perspective on dating and relationships diversified, helping other daters build their dating narrative. My purpose found me. Through refocusing on my inner happiness through therapy, practicing self-advocacy in dating, and encouraging my friends, community, and NYC strangers to make healthier dating choices for THEM, I finally knew what this journey was for.

Dating is part of everyone’s lives. It leads us on different paths, teaches us about love, and, more importantly, what love means to us. Dating strengthens our friendships, family relationships, and our relationship with ourselves. A universal connector of life. It is worthy of our love and attention. There are adventures and lessons to be unwrapped within our dating lives. We just have to learn how to be open to the connections and experiences waiting for us. You deserve to write your own story and be the leading character of the life YOU desire. If I can do it, so can you.
