When life gets a little crazy and things happen beyond our control, we may feel a little overwhelmed. Feeling sad is a part of the process of change, and sometimes it’s best to let those feelings sink in. Creating time for yourself is a great way to help you process, even if that means saying no to a summer night invite. FOMO (especially in an NYC summer) can be hard, but you’ll feel better for it the next day.

To combat those mixed emotions about all the changes going on in your world, we’ve pulled together a few of our favorite self-love rituals to help you get back to feeling okay. Don’t feel pressured to do them all. Remember, self-love doesn’t need to be planned to a T.

Set a mental intention and let your self-love night take you on a journey.

Try Your New Face Serums & Creams

We won’t pretend we didn’t snag some of that Rhode by Hailey Bieber product…. Whatever your new skincare obsession is, give yourself some extra time before bed to try the products. Let them sink in. Spend time in front of the mirror as they do. It’s a great way to be with yourself and see your reflection with no one else around. Watch yourself glow and tell yourself you look beautiful while you’re at it.

Put on a Face Mask

It only takes 10-20 minutes to take full effect. Plus, you can do one while completing other jobs around the house. Self-love doesn’t need to be so poignant. Kill two birds with one stone. You can do your face mask before your new skincare routine, but also clean those dishes that have been piling up in the sink all week... win, win!

Read a Book that Makes You Feel Seen.

Books can be a way to escape from reality, but they also can be very relatable. Seeing how a character faces adversity in their story can make you feel less alone. Grab a memoir to feel less crazy than you do now. Life is never as it seems at the surface. Dive into a book to know you’re not alone. Check out our founder’s favorite books that help her through hard times! PS. Homework by Julie Andrews is oddly the most calming in its relatability…

Silence Your Phone and Put it on Charge in Your Room.

As much as we would like to turn our phones completely off, it just isn’t realistic. Put it away when you’re doing the dishes. Oh, and with the face mask on! It doesn’t take you off the grid in case your mum calls. But it will help you focus on your own thoughts with less FOMO.

Self-love tricks don’t have to be tricky and time-consuming. Integrate them into your already set after-work routine at home. Take your time and be kind to yourself.
